About

Olof Davidsson

Furniture designer & cabinetmaker · Sweden

I design and make furniture, jewellery chests and wooden objects in my workshop in Sweden. Working under the name od form, I create my own designs and undertake bespoke commissions for clients around the world.

My work is guided by a deep respect for wood and an interest in how objects become part of our lives. I consider the grain and proportions alongside the quieter details: the fit of a drawer, the shape of a handle and the movement of a hinge. Each contributes to the experience of the finished piece.

Education and craft

I completed a bachelor’s degree in design at Linköping University in 2020, followed by three years of furniture-making studies at Capellagården on Öland. In 2023, I received my Swedish journeyman’s certificate in cabinetmaking, known as a gesällbrev.

This education brought together design, material knowledge and practical craftsmanship. In my workshop, these remain closely connected. Ideas develop through drawings, careful material selection and tests at the bench, with traditional hand tools and modern machinery each serving their purpose.

Working together

A commission begins with a conversation about the piece and the place it will have in your life. Its intended use, the objects it will hold and your preferences for materials and proportions help shape the design.

You work directly with me throughout the project. I design and make each piece, carrying the decisions we develop together through to the finished work. Particular attention goes to the details that make it personal, from the arrangement of an interior to the way it opens and feels in the hand.

I undertake a limited number of commissions each year, allowing each project the attention it requires.

Sharing the craft

For Shaper, I created a three-part masterclass exploring the design and making of handles, pulls and latches. The lessons follow the process from material selection to shaping and fitting, sharing the decisions behind details that are central to my work.

I also teach through private workshop visits and individual guidance.
